Supporting Black women

Supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of Black women is central to our mission at The Mended Foundation. We provide accessible, compassionate guidance and culturally informed support for those navigating mental health challenges, helping every woman find strength, healing, and balance.
Many Black women face stigma, limited access to care, and a lack of culturally sensitive services, making it harder to reach out for support.
Genuine, Compassionate, and Professional
Our community brings together experienced professionals and dedicated volunteers who are passionate about mental wellness and committed to creating spaces where Black women feel seen, supported, and valued. Through monthly workshops, online sessions, and a confidential helpline, we offer safe, understanding environments where women can share their stories, access guidance, and receive encouragement without fear of judgment.
Building connections for Black women
Through our programmes, we help strengthen supportive relationships and increase social connection within the Black community. Facilitated peer networks encourage shared understanding and mutual encouragement, fostering confidence in seeking help sooner. We also equip women with practical coping strategies and create opportunities to connect with others who share similar life experiences, reducing isolation and promoting collective healing.
Breaking the strong Black woman stereotype
The “strong Black woman” stereotype often pressures women to suppress their emotions, carry overwhelming responsibilities, and avoid asking for help, even when they are struggling. At The Mended Foundation, we work to challenge this narrative by affirming that vulnerability is not weakness, and seeking support is a powerful act of care. Through culturally aware education, open conversations, and supportive services, we empower Black women to prioritise their mental health, redefine strength on their own terms, and embrace the compassion, rest, and healing they deserve.
